Facilties

One of the noticeable features of the interior of Saint John of God Hospital is the comfortable sitting rooms, television lounges and discrete sitting areas which you will find located throughout the building. Murals and artwork are complimented by an open and welcoming environment.

Coffee Shop

Our spacious Coffee Shop is much frequented by patients and visitors alike.Tea, coffee and snacks are served in the Coffee Shop from 10.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.30am to 8.00pm at weekends. Daily newspapers are also available.

Vending machines provide soft drinks, sweets and cigarettes. Visitors and patients are reminded that the sale or use of alcoholic drink in the hospital is strictly forbidden.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy, located on the ground floor, stocks a large range of toiletries. Medicated products must be prescribed by the doctor.The Pharmacy can supply discharge or outpatient prescriptions for patients with private prescriptions, Cluain Mhuire prescriptions or the Drug Payments Scheme. Opening Hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday (Closed for Lunch 1.00-2.00pm)

Dining room

Breakfast 8.30am (Sundays; 9.00am) Lunch 12.30pm (Sundays; 12.45pm) Tea 5.30pm Special dietary requirements are catered for. Please discuss such requirements with the nursing staff. Visitors may use Angulo’s Restaurant between 12 noon and 1.30pm and between 5.00pm and 5.30pm.

Laundry

Information regarding laundry facilities can be obtained from nursing staff.

Dentistry

Appointments to attend a local dentist may be arranged.

Chiropody

Appointments may be arranged.

Hairdressing salon

A modern hairdressing salon is situated in the Occupational Therapy Department on the lower ground floor. Please consult the notice for opening hours.

Beauty therapy

Beauty therapy facilities can be made available by contacting the nurse in charge on your ward.

 

Aromatherapy/ Massage therapy

Appointments can be made at the Occupational Therapy Department.

Internet access

Internet access is available in the Occupational Therapy Department.

Advocacy

The resource of a patient advocate is available to all patients within the hospital. Contact details are available from the clinical nurse manager or your primary nurse.

Chaplaincy

There are resident Catholic Chaplains and a chaplaincy team available. Arrangements can be made for patients of other denominations to be visited by their clergy. St. Brigid’s Church (Church of Ireland) is situated about 100 meters from the hospital entrance.Their clergy provide a chaplaincy service and visit the hospital frequently. St. Brigid’s Rectory telephone number is 01 - 288 1091.

Chapel

Mass is celebrated in the hospital at: 5.00pm on Monday to Friday 10.00am Saturday 10.00am on Sunday Sunday Mass is celebrated in the wards for patients who are unable to go to the chapel.

CCTV

In the interest of your safety and security CCTV, where identified by appropriate signage, is in operation within the hospital.

Useful Information

Social Welfare Disability Certificates: You are entitled to benefit from the Department of Social Welfare if you are a subscriber to RSI. Disability certificates are available from the Accounts Office.They will be issued weekly and forwarded to the Department of Social Welfare on request.

Fire Drill

Fire drills are conducted regularly. If one is scheduled during your stay, you will be advised on the proper safety procedure including evacuation of the ward or hospital. Your attention is drawn to the Evacuation Procedure displayed in each area.
