Education and Experience:

Dr. Sarah McGivern is the Clinical Lead for the Ginesa Adolescent Suite and a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, specialising in treating children and young people under the age of 18. She has been working in Psychiatry since 2003 and has held a consultant position since 2012. She has provided clinical leadership to both inpatient and community mental health teams across various Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine (MB, BCh, BAO) from the National University of Ireland, Galway, followed by a Diploma in Mental Health (DMH) from Queens University, Belfast. Dr. McGivern is a Member of both the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK (MRCPsych), and the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. She completed her specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT).

In addition to her clinical qualifications, Dr. McGivern holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education (MSc) from Queens University, Belfast, and a Master’s in Child Psychotherapy (MA Psychoanalytic Observational Studies) from the Tavistock Centre, London. She has completed professional training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents (M14) through the British Psychoanalytic Council at the Tavistock Centre.
