Dr. Attila Szigeti is a consultant psychiatrist at St John of God Hospital, specializing in mood and anxiety disorders. He brings extensive experience in early intervention for first-episode psychosis and eating disorders. Dr. Szigeti is particularly interested in neuromodulation, delivering ECT (electroconvulsive therapy), and has recently completed advanced training in TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and tDCS (transcranial direct current stimulation).
In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in education, serving as an educational tutor for trainee doctors and facilitating reflective group supervision for registrar doctors. Dr. Szigeti completed his psychiatry training with first-class honours at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, in 2011.
He has 14 years of extensive experience practicing psychiatry in English-speaking countries, including four years at Priory Hospital Group in the United Kingdom and ten years in the Republic of Ireland.
He spent several years working with the Dublin and East Treatment and Early Care Team (DETECT), focusing on early intervention in first-episode psychosis, and contributed to multiple research projects in this field, including his doctoral thesis.
For two years, he served as the medical director of a small independent health service specializing in eating disorders in the Republic of Ireland.
Dr. Szigeti was appointed as a consultant psychiatrist at St John of God Hospital in 2022.
